Online Course Syllabi
Introduction
The UNC System Office Regulation on Publication of Academic Calendars, Grading Policies, and Related Materials (adopted December 19, 2025) and NC State’s Course Syllabus Regulation (revised February 3, 2026) require a syllabus to be available from NC State’s Class Search tool no later than one week prior to the beginning of the term. The instructions below provide information to faculty on how to post the required syllabus information from the faculty center in the MyPack portal.
Academic experiences occurring outside of organized course sections and providing individual instruction in exchange for course credit, e.g. practicums, internships, independent research and dissertations, may not require a syllabus.
Navigate to the Online Syllabi Menu
MyPack Portal > Student Information System homepage > Student Records tile > ‘Faculty Center’ folder > ‘Online Syllabi’ menu item
Instructors will see a list of their courses with either a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ indicator. This indicator is aligned with the Syllabus Requirement by Component Type requirement.

Create or Copy a Syllabus
Create a New Syllabus
For classes with a ‘Yes’ indicator, select that line to launch the Create/View Syllabi window. Select ‘Create New’ to add a syllabus for the selected course.

Enter the information in each required field. This can be copied from your syllabus document or other course inventory record. The course title and description will be pulled automatically from the catalog.
Course materials provided to the bookstore will also be automatically populated in the Additional Required Course Materials section.
There is no need to duplicate auto-populated information.

Once information has been entered, click ‘Save’ to document changes.
Instructors may now ‘Publish’, ‘Edit’, ‘Delete’, or ‘View’ the document.

Syllabi Changes and Additional Information
To ensure course continuity, any changes to instructional delivery, course structure, activity schedule, grading or assessment structure, or other aspects of the course after the start of the term should be communicated to all students in writing at the time of implementation. Where applicable, the Course Syllabus and the official course record in the Course Information Management (CIM) system should be updated.
